Services:
Shelda provides primary care preventative and health promotion to people of all ages. Common office visits include well-child checks, immunizations, chronic disease management, sports/school/camp/work physicals, and expertise in women’s health and family planning. As a service to patients, Shelda has some weekend and evening hours.
Philosophy:
Shelda is dedicated to medicine that nurtures the mind, body, and spirit within individual, family and social contexts. Patients are encouraged, expected, and empowered to take an active role in their healthcare through integrated, multidisciplinary collaboration.
School and Training:
Masters of Science in Nursing, Oregon Health and Sciences University
Bachelors of Science, Oregon Health and Sciences University
Shelda was a registered nurse for several years before becoming a nurse practitioner and a licensed massage therapist for many years prior to becoming a nurse.
Research Interests:
Massage in the hospitalized blood and bone marrow patient population; traditional native medicines; and integrated health models are areas of interest. Shelda’s professional goal is to practice medicine that integrates the best of allopathic and complementary/ alternative practices, and contribute to the advancement of this model through research and policy.
